I believed interior designing is a talent and a multifaceted profession that includes conceptual development, liaising with the stakeholders of a project and the management and execution of the design. It is not easy as what other thinks, it requires a lot of planning, decision making and time management.

I have no talent in actual interior designing because as what I have said I am kind of packrat where everything is important to me, everything has value in short. So when ever we have new furniture at home I just display or put them in a place where I think they will look good, I don’t consider balancing anymore. As long as there’s space there’s a usage for it.

Well at least even though I  have no talent in actual interior designing I have a little talent in virtual interior designing, how do your like my living room (header)?

As we have no space/garden  to cultivate here in our apartment I have told  my husband about my idea and that is planting a plant into plant box which is a good idea if there’s no garage in front of our apartment building but the mere fact that  there’s a garage it is not a good idea at all. So there’s no way we can grow flowers or few vegetables in a plant box because without sunlight they will die.

Our last option to bring harmony and have green living things in our apartment is to buy and install window boxes in our balcony. There are some affordable  and custom made window boxes that last a lifetime, most of them are made from no rot cellular PVC called VERSATEX , that gives the planters a matte finish which scatters light rather than reflecting it and the end result is a planter that looks and feels like a wood rather than a plastic.

It  seems a good idea isn’t it? Well before we decide to have one we should ask permission to our landlord first especially he is keeping his bike and other cleaning tools at the the back side of the apartment.

Our bathroom at home is not fully furnished well what you expect when even our home is not yet fully constructed.  If we are given a chance to improve our bathroom I would like to buy bath tub and of course bath panels.  Like most other items there’s a large variety of bath panels and they ranged on sizes, shapes, color and material. There acrylic and reinforced panels and wooden panels with different colors like mahogany, limed oak, white and walnut.

If you are not familiar bath panels are the external casings that are placed around the side(s) of certain types of baths. In most cases these kinds of panels will be used around baths that are not designed to be free-standing. They are used predominantly to hide the plumbing around the bath tub itself and to make the bath and the bathroom look neater.

Before one of my Aunt build a small store in front of  our house we have a small flower garden in  our porch. We grew orchids in a drift wood and different kind of flowering plants in a pot. My mother also landscape it with the available resources around us like group of stones and soil. But since they build a small store most of the plants are affected and needs to be transferred or removed.

When my Aunt moved and they torn down their store we didn’t  return the plants anymore on their old place, we also didn’t improved the garden anymore. It remains empty as it is and it was not a bad move after all because after few years they built a new store which covered the empty space.

As what I have learned landscaping your garden makes dull areas  pleasing and it is possible to make ordinary homes into spectacular ones and office buildings into warm, livable spaces most of all beautiful landscaping increases the property value of your home.

My cousin has an on going renovation on their home, they’re constructing an extension on their house and redesigning their living room.   Her kids love to watch cartoon show/movies all the time especially on weekend when school is closed, there are times that they fell asleep watching their favorite cartoon show I have suggest to my cousin to buy modern sofa bed which can be converted to bed anytime.

My Aunt house was not fully furnished right away, they constructed it little by little when funds allowed them to do so.  The last time I’ve been on their dining room their kitchen cabinets  is still unfinished they are just open cabinet attached on their wall.  As I am browsing online I have found out you can buy kitchen cabinet doors alone and other unfinished kitchen drawers and corbels, I should tell them about this find.

When you also need a complete remodeling in your cabinets and counter tops and your budget is not enough, refacing them will be a nice idea. All you need is to change the doors and not the whole cabinet, it can be as simple as replacing your old cabinet doors and drawer fronts with new ones. Kitchen doors for any kitchen remodeling project is good idea as it will refresh the whole kitchen style and bring freshness to your home.

Cleaning your bathroom is a very important thing everyone should do, it is one of the dirtiest place inside our home. I usually clean our bathroom weekly and when I do it our whole apartment stinks with bleach even though the bathroom window is open and the ventilation is running. I have noticed that I felt suffocated with the smell of our old bathroom cleaner and I felt my uneasy.

So I am glad when we bought a new bathroom cleaner it does not smell very strong and didn’t smell like bleach, it smells like apple actually. It is very mild and comforting unlike the other brand we are using.

The top of our fridge is becoming messy and dirty these past few days, so my husband thought of buying a small floor cabinet for our kitchen to keep the onions, garlic, potatoes and sweet potatoes in order. We went to one store who sells home appliances to look for one but we didn’t find a smaller one,  we ended buying a stackable tray instead.

We bought three trays but when we arranged them in the kitchen only two are needed so I am planning to use the third  for my things instead.

Life becomes very busy these past few days. The other day I decided to clean my junks beside my bed, it is really a messy sight that my husband give an ultimatum to me, clean it or he is going to throw them in the garbage bag.  And of course who wants their thing to be thrown so I’ve cleaned them, throw the things that I don’t need anymore.

My side of bed was not exempted, I have to separate my things according to the importance. Well if you think I find a place to keep all my paper works, yes and no. I just put them all together in the big Nikon paper bag, lol. As much as I want to throw most of the things the packrat in me hug them back.

Bed bugs are parasitic insects (tiny brown insects) that prefer to feed on human blood which is why they head for your bed. While you’re sleeping, you are like a bed bug buffet!  Bed bugs can get into your house without you even knowing – on things like your luggage, your clothes, and your furniture.

Once we stayed in a hotel in China which I think has a lot of Bed Bugs, it is very annoying because I can’t even sleep with the feeling of something is crawling over my body. We have no choice because we already book the hotel plus we are only going to stay for one night while waiting for our flight home.

Just want to share the article I read online, when traveling, think of the acronym S.L.E.E.P. to remember the following action steps to help avoid taking bed bugs home with you.

• Survey surfaces for signs of an infestation, such as tiny rust-colored spots on bed sheets, mattress tags and seams, and bed skirts.
• Lift and look for all bed bug hiding spots, including underneath the mattress, bed frame, headboard, and furniture. Typically, they come out at night to feed, but during the day, they are most likely found within a 5-foot radius of the bed.
• Elevate your luggage on a luggage rack away from the bed and wall, since bed bugs can often hide behind head boards, artwork, picture frames and electrical outlet panels.
• Examine your luggage carefully while repacking and when you return home. Always keep luggage off the bed and store it in a closet or other area, far away from your bedroom.
• Place all your clothing from your luggage immediately in the dryer for at least 15 minutes at the highest setting upon returning home from travel.

When at home, follow these handy tips to help keep bed bugs at bay.

• Remove all clutter from your home, which makes finding bed bugs easier.
• Wash and dry your bed linens often using the hottest temperature allowed for the fabric.
• Closely inspect any second-hand furniture for bed bugs before you bring it into your residence.
• Inspect your residence regularly – after a move-in, a trip, a service worker comes in, or guests stay overnight.
